CSV & Google Sheets for InDesign
Convert CSV files and public Google Sheets for InDesign Data Merge. Choose a source, check the encoding and download your file.
Runs in your browser: no JSX script required. Your original file is not modified. CSV, BOM and InDesign guide →
1. Choose a source
Choose one of two alternatives: upload a CSV from your device or fetch a public Google Sheet.
Local CSV File from your device · 10 MB maximum
Detects UTF-8 and UTF-16 LE/BE with BOM. For legacy encodings, export to Unicode first.
Detected encoding: —
Google Sheets Alternative to local upload · public sheet
Public sheets accessible without login only. One fetch attempt; Google may block it via CORS. No proxy or authentication.
Download CSV from Google · Then select it as a local file.
2. Check and convert
Values stay as text, including leading zeros and unevaluated formulas. CRLF line endings and quoted cells. Warnings do not automatically repair headers or rows.
Local registry (optional) Save and reuse data and settings
Not required to convert or download a CSV.
Save snapshots of data and settings only in this browser on the current domain. Maximum 50 entries / 3 MB. This is not a backup or sync service: export JSON. JSON includes CSV data and URLs; share it deliberately.
Opening a snapshot does not refresh Google Sheets. To update, use Fetch or upload a new file and save a new snapshot.
Using the CSV in InDesign
Open Data Merge → Select Data Source, choose the downloaded CSV and check headers, accents and preview. There is no direct connection to your InDesign document and no automatic update. Read the full guide.
